How long does orthodontic treatment take?
Treatment times vary on a case-by-case basis, but the average is from one to three years. Actual treatment time can be affected by rate of growth, cooperation, and the severity of the correction necessary.

What is TMJ or TMD?
Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction known as TMJ or TMD is commonly described as pain or clicking in the jaw joint. Symptoms may include headaches or soreness in the jaw area. Patients are instructed to refrain from destructive behavior that may aggravate or increase TMD pain. For example, patients should not chew bubble gum or bite their fingernails. Splints, a clear acrylic appliance made from impressions taken, may be used to reposition the jaw to alleviate stress.
How can I find out if my child or myself will benefit from orthodontic or TMD treatment?
Call our office for an initial examination appointment. There is no charge for this informative initial visit. Dr. Azizi will determine what treatment (if any) is necessary, as well as provide an estimated cost and length of treatment if needed.
What kind of experience does Dr. Azizi have in orthodontic and TMD treatment?
Dr. Azizi is an orthodontist who has been in private practice since 1998. She graduated from Canyon High School in Anaheim Hills, 1987. During her undergraduate studies, majoring in Biology at U.C.I., she was on the Dean’s Honor List. She earned her doctorate in Dental Surgery from U.C.L.A. in 1995. At the Medical College of Georgia during her post-doctoral studies, she completed her Master's Degree in Oral Pathology. She earned her Specialty Certification in Orthodontics in 1997. She has received international recognition for her research publication in The American Journal of Orthodontics. She is among a small group of Orthodontic Specialists in the nation who have successfully completed an examination of excellence in her specialty, which certifies her as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontists. She is active in numerous professional organizations including the American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists and The College of Diplomate of The American Board of Orthodontics.
